THE ROLE

This is an exciting role for a strong, well-rounded Finance Analyst to lead and support on one of the Group’s fastest growing retail business, Browns. This position will give you the chance to add value & insight, being able to put your own stamp on the business. You will be required to help make investment decisions, build planning cycles and deliver robust, detailed and accurate plans, which the business can operate to.

This role would suit someone who loves digging into the detail, solving problems and identifying key drivers of performance but then can also take a step back explaining and recommending actions to senior management. You will have ownership of the on-the-ground advisory and decision making from a commercial finance perspective. We need someone who is excited about the opportunity of improving current processes, building tools from scratch to propel understanding and help surface actionable insight and loves working in a fast-paced, high energy and collaborative environment.


The role requires strong partnerships with multiple stakeholders across all functions within the business and varying levels of seniority, therefore someone with strong inter-personal communication skills to support with Browns’ continued evolution of planning and analysis.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • You’ll be comfortable with long term P&L, balance sheet and cash flow forecasting with good grounding in the fundamentals of multi-channel businesses;
  • You’ll Business Partner with our Accounting Team in Portugal, providing them with insight and transparency into events happening across the year.
  • You’ll Business Partner with the multiple stakeholders to provide performance analytics and spend tracking, enabling Senior Leaders to make decisions within their departments;
  • You’ll analyse results, identify opportunities and exploit trends, communicating both verbally and in written presentations to Senior Management and internal stakeholders;
  • You’ll drive process improvements and participate in existing Commercial Finance enhancements with the mindset of continuous improvement;
  • You’ll support commercial initiatives with robust financial analysis and modelling, using sensitivity analysis;
  • You’ll partner with the People Team to manage the headcount forecasting process, analysing variances and providing commentary;
  • You’ll support the business in the classification of OPEX and CAPEX spend – helping guide decision making around the business whilst aligning with group reporting requirements;
  • You’ll have a good level of technical accounting experience and the ability to analyse and support business cases – from reviewing their commercial viability through to any supporting proposed changed in accounting treatment;
  • You’ll support ad hoc requests and projects as they arise;

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are a qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA);
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience with a strong Technical Accounting background;
  • You are an expert in excel (vLookups, Pivots);
  • Your knowledge in Dynamics AX & SAP is advantageous;
  • Advantageous if you have experience in the technology and retail industries;
  • You have strong commercial awareness and business acumen;
  • You have the ability to operate in ambiguous and changing situations to meet deadlines;
  • You have the ability to self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment with competing deadlines;
  • You are proactive, enthusiastic, ambitious and passionate with attention to detail;
  • You are a strong team player with the ability to interact with those outside of the Finance teams to deliver preferred outcomes;
