What does a Filming, Sales and Advertising Officer do at Hillingdon Council?
As part of the Corporate Communications team, you will manage the council’s film office in attracting and processing filming requests to maximise benefits to the council and the wider borough.
You will also be responsible for the sale of printed and digital advertising space for the council, including contracts for advertising at physical locations, and processing the council’s sponsorship agreements.
Film Office management:
- Manage filming stills photography and applications from organisations and individuals who wish to undertake filming or photoshoots.
- Manage relationships with external partners (Film London, Met Police, TfL etc) and film crews (including key location managers) on the use of assets for filming and photography.
- Manage relationships with local residents to ensure that filming is conducted safely and sensitively to their needs.
- Undertake site visits of proposed locations with prospective film makers and/or photographers to ensure compliance with the issued license.
- Issue licenses or, in some cases, notices of no objection permitting filming or photoshoots to take place.
- Check and assess any drone flight applications ensuring compliance. Liaise with RAF Northolt, Denham Airport and Heathrow Airport control towers where necessary in relation to drone flight applications.
- Develop the council’s film office offer, including proactively sourcing new sites/locations in the borough and exploring new commercial opportunities.
- Lead on delivering a proactive programme of communications to raise awareness in the industry of the filming opportunities on offer in Hillingdon.
Advertising and sales:
- To manage and administer the council’s advertising contracts. This includes producing a schedule for advertising space sales and opportunities for the council’s lamp post banners, roundabout advertising, billboards, noticeboards, Hillingdon People magazine, social media etc
- To proactively research and propose new advertising opportunities and maximise income through the sale of advertising.
- To encourage the sale of advertising space to promote local businesses and activities.
- To quality assure advertisers and their proposed content and design to ensure council advertising standards/terms and conditions are met.
About you
Your previous background could be within a film office, advertising/sales, marketing, communications, print or other public relations environment. Or as a locations manager within the film, TV or commercial production industry. Regardless we require you to be degree qualified with extensive knowledge of the requirements of film, TV and commercial production on location in the UK, and filming licensing processes.
