Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Medical Records Supervisor, supports file room functions including maintenance of file room records, responding to referring physician and patient requests; ensures a culture of excellence by employing the seven competencies for a “Wow experience” and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilities. Responsible administratively to the practice Administrator.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for adherence to all HIPAA guidelines as detailed during required HIPAA training.
- Accurate and timely filing of patient records which include all paperwork related to a patient encounter (requisitions, questionnaires, etc.).
- Timely responses, per departmental guidelines, to outside calls from referring physicians, patients and others requesting finalized reports and/or images.
- Liaison with NYPH File Room to ensure timely receipt and sending images.
- Provide coverage; loading outside exams as requested by referring MD offices for comparison with current studies.
- Coordinate the processing of over read studies by registering and loading exams to Radiology RIS/PACS system for interpretation.
- Retrieve and load all prior exams to RIS/PACS system for MRI and CT daily schedules.
- Retrieve and load all prior exams to RIS/PACS system for Mammography and Ultrasound schedules.
- Request films from storage
- Work with outside courier service to send films Fed Ex, RDS, certified mail
- Digitize images as requested consistent with department guidelines.
- Merge exams in the PACS system as needed by the department.
- Other related file room work as requested.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent required.
- Two full years of general office experience required.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $20.00 - $28.00
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
