Role Description

Job Purpose
Provide technical support to the PMO team of IT Project Managers in the delivery of their projects and work streams and assist with other IT work streams as required. As an IT Project Field Engineer you will need to be highly mobile and enjoy working at various locations across the UK and possibly abroad.
As an IT Project Field Engineer, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing IT systems, software, and network infrastructure in accordance with the business needs and project requirements. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies.

Dimensions
An integral part of the project team, the IT Project Field Engineer provides onsite technical hardware and software support to the project delivery team. The dimensions of the role include the installation of hardware, configuration of software and issue resolution activities. An extremely agile role where the PMO project portfolio will determine the location of the work. A role suitable for someone with an aptitude for IT and a willingness to learn and develop within a fast-moving exciting environment.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Provide hardware and software audit reports of existing IT systems and equipment.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of IT equipment needs and recommend appropriate solutions where applicable.
  • Install new and/or existing technologies at the assigned site.
  • Co-ordinate with on-site colleagues and suppliers on the delivery and installation of IT systems.
  • Install new fat client computers, thin client terminals, monitors and printers.
  • Patch network ports and test device connectivity.
  • Provide technical and operational information including documentation relating to the resolution of technical issues to the Project Manager or Technical Delivery Team.
  • Provide technical support to end users where necessary.
  • Diagnose and fix network and software faults.
  • Install pre-built operating systems e.g Windows 10.
  • Key on-site contact for IT related project activities.
  • Setup and maintain user accounts and profiles on the corporate network.
  • Collaborate with other IT Delivery Teams to ensure seamless transition of support from Projects to Business as Usual including the documentation of application records and service desk catalogues.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with Princes Group IT policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Management of contract resource including organising on-site project activities, time keeping and providing reports to the project manager.


Role Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Must have a Positive, ‘can-do’ attitude and be flexible to meet the needs of the project.
  • An aptitude and passion for Information Technology is essential.
  • Must have a basic understanding of networking and IT hardware.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Full clean driving license is needed as the ability to drive is essential to the role.
  • Previous IT field engineering experience would be advantageous.
Additional Key Behaviours
  • Technical Knowledge and Proficiency
  • General understanding of computer hardware and software, including servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices. The IT Project Field Engineer should also be familiar with Windows 10 operating system.
  • General understanding of security protocols, including firewalls, prevention systems, and antivirus software. The IT Project Field Engineer should also be familiar with security best practices, such as password management and data encryption.
  • An understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. A Project Field Engineer should also be familiar with network topology, LAN, WAN, and VLAN.
  • Mobile device management concepts, such as mobile device security, device enrolment, and mobile application management.
