A motivated trainee field service technician / Scientific installation maintenance technician / Biomedical field service Engineer is required for our prestigious global market leading engineering client to travel and install their specialist electro mechanical scientific equipment at client sites throughout the North of the UK. This is a challenging and exciting home based travelling role that would suit an enthusiastic engineering qualified field service professional based in the North of the UK, anywhere between Preston to Carlisle ideally. Electro- mechanical engineering or Scientific engineering qualified professionals with basic repair service experience and the right drive and motivation will be considered. Experienced electro-mechanical maintenance / service professionals looking to develop a long term career in field service within this industry and travel extensively are of distinct interest. This role is a permanent home based full time role of core hours of 40 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8.30-5.30, Friday 3.45pm, overtime will be paid for out of work hours eg weekends and travelling. This field role will involve regular travel both national and sometimes internationally to install the specialist equipment at clients sites within hospitals, vets, sterile rooms, healthcare facilities, medical sites etc. This is an exciting role where no two days are the same and would suit a driven engineering professional willing and able to travel at short notice to meet client demands and deliver excellent customer service. The ideal trainee service technician / maintenance engineer will have the below skills and experiences;

  • Full UK driving licence and passport is required due to national and international travel- you must be able and willing to travel with no restrictions
  • Happy and able for extensive travel and overnight stays (maybe every months/ 2 months) plus travel to Ireland and Europe to cover engineer
  • Engineering qualifications / scientific engineering qualifications ( ideally HNC/ HND in electro mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical systems knowledge. Scientific, bio-medical, microbiology, military, biotechnology, defence, pharmaceutical, life sciences qualifications with basic fault finding skills will be considered
  • Repair, maintenance engineering , service engineering, installation, basic repair experience ideally (although full training will be provided on the specialist medical equipment and services but a basic repair background / fault finding is required)
  • Previous experience of a field role- you must be willing and able to travel freely as this role is field based and requires daily travel to sites. If you have not got field experience you will still be considered if willing to travel extensively in this role.
  • Technical hands on experience and ability- you must be technically adept
  • You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and be a team player
  • True willingness to learn and develop a career within this industry (any field service experience of hospitals, healthcare, pharmaceutical, defence, chemical industries would be of interest)
  • Be already based/ established in the North West / North of the UK ideally in the Preston to Carlisle region and willing and able to travel to Cumbria and Scottish sites also Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Carlisle. This role requires travel to other sites in this region daily in this remote field service role and occasionally internationally to UK and Europe.
