Job description

Support safer communities as a field monitoring officer:

Join us as a field monitoring officer and be part of a friendly, welcoming team, who’ll support you to learn and develop, as together you help to make our country a safer place. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll head off to visit subjects in their own homes to install, calibrate and decommission monitoring equipment. You’ll either work alone or alongside a monitoring support officer, to help the Ministry of Justice to track individuals in the local area and support them to complete their sentences outside of prison. The nature of what we do means that your shifts could fall on any day of the year including Christmas and Bank Holidays. You'll be able to liaise with your manager to book your paid annual leave whenever is convenient for you in coordination with other team members.

Maybe you’ve previously worked as a postie, a broadband engineer, or a door-to-door salesperson. Or perhaps you’ve got experience within social care or the police force. Either way, your ability to build relationships and rapport with anyone you meet will make all the difference, as this role is all about people. You know that everyone deserves respect and not to be judged. You’ll build the subjects confidence in both you and the justice system, reassuring them of their safety, as well as that of the general public. With every successful case, you’ll be directly helping to reduce the pressure on the prison system and give ex-prisoners the chance to be part of their community again. Every day and every subject is different, which is what makes this role so varied and full of opportunities to learn. It also means you’ll need to be resilient as you adapt to new situations each time.

You’ll receive three weeks of ICT training at the start and work with a training officer on the road until you’re comfortable with the role. And with support from your manager, you’ll have the chance to grow your skills and progress your career, whether that’s into a management role or within the wider business. Become a field monitoring officer and discover a career where you can make a meaningful difference to your local community.

Compensation: You’ll be rewarded with £23,065 and a company car which includes personal use.

Working hours: You’ll be working on a rotating shift pattern, between 5pm – 3am which averages 37.5 hours per week including some weekends and bank holidays.

Location: You will be home-based and spend your shift visiting people in communities across your region. Ideally you’ll live in CB, SG,CM16,CM17,IP24,IP29,IP32 postcode areas
