What you’ll do
As a Field Engineer, you will play an integral part of the Vodafone Field Engineering team, performing installation and maintenance activities in support of the fixed and mobile networks as well as Vodafone business solutions.
The Field Engineering role is a physical one, with the need for manual lifting, climbing stairs, walking and being on your feet for large parts of the day, working in both inside and outside environments.
There will also be rooftop based working including the use of ladders up to 3 metres is essential and the role holder will be expected to undertake regular health assessments to ensure that all physical aspects of the role can be carried out safely. You also must have a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to travel if required to meet the demands of the business.
Install, commission and maintain the Vodafone network, products and services to agreed Vodafone standards and service levels without compromising safe working practices- Follow our Vodafone HSE Absolute Rules, without exception
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and challenge existing processes and procedures in order to deliver operational excellence for our customers
Who you are
Formal telecoms/electronic qualification or equivalent experience gained through previous roles.- Experience of Installation and maintenance of the majority of the following telecoms technologies.
- LAN/WAN technologies using Cisco and Juniper hardware.
- Core transmission technologies including SDH, OTN, DWDM and Ethernet
- Microwave Radio
- Switch and Field DC power systems
- Fibre and copper cabling and termination
- Ability to work both in a team and on your own efficiently and effectively
- A considerable amount of the role consists of lone working and so the ability to work efficiently, safely and independently is a must
- Ability to work in a focused manner under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to manage own workload to best meet the demands of the business
- Adaptability and the ability to learn new skills quickly
- PC skills (IT Literacy)
- Valid / full UK / EU driving license (Category B)
- Excellent customer-facing skills
- Ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance status
