Role Overview
As a Fibre Splicer, you will play a key role and will be responsible for splicing and testing on existing and new build networks to specific client specifications. This will include external and internal work.
Responsibilities and duties
- Splicing – Fusion splicing (Fujikura 60s, 70s), live network splicing, hard splicing and patching
- Build new splice points using joint closures and optical distribution frames
- Testing – OTDR/ILM/PMD/CD, produce fibre characterisation reports, analyse trace results to troubleshoot faults
- Read and understand Visio diagrams
Skills and Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience of working on a live Fibre network
- OTDR experience e.g. EXFO, CMA NETTEST, ANRITSU, NOYES etc.
- Experience of fusion splicing e.g. Fujikura 60s, 70s etc.
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Organised, professional and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work alone as well as in a strong team environment
- A high level of diplomacy and a customer focused approach to tasks
- Excellent time-management skills
- Flexible approach and positive attitude to work
