REPORTING TO: GENERAL MANAGER/MANAGING DIRECTOR

JOB FUNCTION: TO OPERATE VESSEL IN SAFE AND ORGANISED FASHION, TO MANAGE ITS CREW AND TO ENSURE CUSTOMERS SAFETY IS MET AT ALL TIMES

Principal Responsibilities

To ensure the vessel meets Company and legal safety standards so our passengers remain safe and enjoy their experience on board.
To follow relevant regulations and comply with the requirements of the Company’s Safety Management System.
To ensure that your crew follow and comply with these regulations and requirements.
To navigate your vessel safely in accordance with the Collision Regulations and local by-laws.
To ensure that all required documentation are always completed and looked after.
To be responsible for and facilitate onboard safety training for crew members.
To manage your vessel’s operations including sailing to a schedule, and crew breaks.
To always ensure safe mooring of your vessel and be responsible for the safe embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and crew members.
To provide a safety announcement after leaving each landing.
To carry out daily and periodic checks of all safety equipment and machinery.
To report any deficiencies or issues using the Company’s maintenance request procedure.
To check the vessel’s fuel level and if necessary, fuel the vessel before entering it into service.
Requirement to work unsocial hours and provide on-call cover.
To be responsible for crew training and emergency drills.
To ensure the vessel has an adequate supply of fresh water on board prior to commencing service.
To ensure the vessel is clean, tidy, and always well presented.
All other duties requested by the manager.
