We are looking for an experienced Farm Manager with suitable qualifications, knowledge and practical experience of working with a wide variety of farmed livestock including Cattle, Sheep, Pigs, Poultry and Horses at our In-hand Farm sites in Dinefwr and Llanerchaeron. You will need to display experience and knowledge of working to Glastir or other farm stewardship guidelines, Cross Compliance and Animal Welfare standards, you should also be a holder of Vet Med certification.

You will show a commitment to wildlife friendly farming practises as you will be working closely with the Countryside Manager to achieve the properties Land and Nature Objectives for High Nature Status Farms

This role would suit someone who is equally at home doing the practical day to day work alongside our 2 farm workers as well as able to work through the necessary paperwork and online BCMS and Farm Plan entries and exploring opportunities for organic and high premium sales.

What it's like to work here:Dinefwr and Llanerchaeron are part of the wider Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion Portfolios, they are two of our three main pay for entry properties with around 160,000 visitors visiting the two sites each year. you and your team and the animals that they tend will very much be in the public eye and as such presentation and animal welfare are of paramount importance

You will be part of the wider estate team covering the these two estates and other countryside sites across the portfolio

Dinefwr is the ancestral home of the White Park Cattle Breed and you will be working with the Countryside Manager and Farm Worker to ensure the welfare and longevity of this very important piece of the Dinefwr story is here for another 1000 years.

Llanerchaeron was set up to be a model in sustainable farming and is a well loved local estate bringing in locals and visitors from the busy West Wales coastline every year, its rich farming history heritage is one we wish to continue to rebuild and promote and through our flock of Llanwenog Ewe's, rare breed pigs, horses, conservation grazing ponies and poultry we try to show our visitors that heritage.

What you'll be doing:The role is primarily based at Dinefwr Park in Llandeilo, but part of the job will mean travelling out to Llanerchaeron, near Aberaeron, on a weekly basis to support staff there.

This role is both a practical one and an administrational one. from a practical point You will organise and lead animal welfare checks, medicine administration, TB tests, winter housing arrangements and day to day husbandry. As well as arranging for contractual haylage harvesting, you'll also be expected to provide cover for stock duties when one of our farm workers is on annual leave or rest days and setting rota's for the farm workers and external support contractors and ensuring 7 day cover is in place for both sites.

You will be responsible for animal sales and purchases, breeding programmes and working with the White Park Cattle Society, ensuring our farm records, movement diaries, medicine records etc are up to date and fit for animal welfare and cross compliance audits.

• Who we're looking forBe a practical and experienced Livestock keeper having experience of cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry
• Have either a suitable qualification in livestock husbandry or be able to demonstrate significant practical experience of both working on and running a farm unit.
• You'll have the relevant competencies with machinery and equipment around the farm
• Can demonstrate a high degree of animal welfare standards in everyday practise and decision making
• Hold a relevant Vet Med training certificate
• Have an understanding of and be able to undertake all recording and documentation of the farm relating to animal welfare, Livestock sales and purchases, animal registrations and Cross Compliance.
• Have experience of working under Glastir or other farm stewardship grant conditions
• A good knowledge of health and safety legislation and producing risk assessments
• You'll be someone with excellent people skills for managing staff and volunteers and also have a commitment to engaging with our visitors on all aspect of our farms running
