Job Title: Farm Hand
Location: Wessex Lodge School, Frome, Somerset
Salary: £12 per hour
Hours: 16 hours per week; 3 hours per day, weekend and school holidays cover only
Contract: Permanent
About The Role
As a farm hand you'll usually work with either animal production, dairy or crop production, although it's possible that you'll work with all three. Livestock on farms tends to be pigs, cows, or sheep, while crops can cover cereals, rapeseed oil, vegetables, and salad. Your role will oversee the day-to-day care of animals and crops within the farm.
About us
Wessex Lodge School comprises of two main sites: Wessex Lodge School, the main school where classroom-based activities take place, the second site being Newmead Farm, located in Maiden Bradley and allows students the opportunity to explore subject paths which would otherwise not be available to them.
We have grown to support 40 students, aged 8 - 18 years old. Each student has individual needs based on developmental challenges, Social and Emotional Mental Health difficulties or Autism. We support them using individual plans and the THRIVE approach. Wessex Lodge offers all students an individualised education to improve life outcomes.
The established staff team come from a variety of previous occupations and have individual skills, which can be utilised, within this school. So, if you have an interest and/or qualifications in animal care, horticulture, construction, outdoor education, forestry or any other specific trade or hobby, we would love to hear from you!
