PERMANENT JOB

Have you ever wanted to work for a company doing something truly incredible, disruptive and working for the greater good of planet Earth? Well, here is your chance. Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS) was founded in 2013 and has brought together decades of farming and engineering experience to create an Agritech business with a vision to revolutionise the indoor growing market. Employing over 220 staff, IGS is now in full scale up mode with an ambitious and aggressive recruitment plan to help fuel their commercial growth.
The business runs a fully functional indoor Vertical Farming Tower at the James Hutton Institute in Invergowrie (close to Dundee). Ongoing commercial growth means we now need to recruit a Farm Assistant or Farm Labourer ideally with crop planting, seeding and harvesting experience.
Reporting into the Farm Management Team, the Farm Assistant will be performing daily routine tasks such as cleaning, seeding, germination, soil preparation and supporting our Plant Science team with crop trials & harvests. The candidate will be part of the day-to-day assessment of the seed germination for various trials and report any issues. The successful candidate will also be expected to drive a telescopic handler, IGS will provide training if required. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the crop process such as seeding, germination, trial launching and crop harvesting
- Responsible for housekeeping and site orderliness
- Cleaning the tower equipment & fertigation tanks
- Soil preparation
- Liaising with our Plant Science, R&D and Maintenance team
- Ensure the facility is presentable for visits
- Support all site operations activities whenever necessary
The ideal candidate will have site labour experience and ideally a keen interest in engineering and/or horticulture. We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who has worked on arable farms or commercial growers outdoors and would like to join the indoor revolution! This will also suit college graduates with NC, HNC, HND in Agronomy or Horticulture looking for a start in life. Any knowledge of mechanics and electrics and ability to operate farming equipment would also help. Experience in operating farm equipment, plant growth and maintenance an understanding about the health and safety requirements at a lab or site stage would be highly desirable.
This represents an incredible opportunity to “give something back” and be part of a culture that believes in genuine teamwork, sustaining excellence, values courageous honesty, wants people to feel good and enjoys seeing their people and the business win. An excellent base salary (to £23,000 DOE) is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package, complete with training and self development grants and flexible working solutions.
