Job description
Cheshire East has welcomed families from overseas particularly those who have found themselves living in a different country and culture unexpectedly and separated from loved ones such as those affected by war and conflict. We are worked in partnership with the Home Office and with multi-disciplinary teams across the authority to support these families to settle into Cheshire East. The role is to support the education of these children within Cheshire East.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a varied and rewarding role working within Children's Services to support children coming from oversea such as under the Homes for Ukraine resettlement scheme. The role will involve working with schools to support children. You will work with colleagues in teams such as Communities and Housing to support families living within Cheshire East. You will be the key education contact and provide advice and signposting on issues such as free school meals, changes of school, cultural differences, safeguarding, attendance and the British education system. There may be some limited direct work with families but the majority of work will be undertaken with a wider focus to support as many children as possible. The role is based in Crewe with some home working and some travelling throughout the borough.
ABOUT YOU
You will have
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassion and understanding of the circumstances of children coming from overseas
- Experience of working in a local authority, school or charity background involving families
- Understanding and commitment to safeguarding
- Able to organise own workload in response to changing and competing demand
