FACTORY OPERATIVE
West Sussex Office Furniture Ltd, are a manufacturing distributor in commercial office and educational furniture, based in Chichester.
We are looking for a SAW Operative to work in the MILL department, with the ability to be flexible should we require you to work in other departments in the factory, if the need arises.

Main duties and responsibilities:
- Measuring, cutting, and preparing natural and engineered wood for the operation of the saw machinery.
- Achieving daily production target as per production schedule.
- Completion of jobs on time ready for despatch deadline.
- Working from technical drawings.
- High attention to detail to make sure measurements are accurate to prevent mistakes and wastage.
- Forklift operating duties.
- Reporting all deficiencies and issues concerning Health & Safety, your working environment, equipment, and quality to your Production Manager.
- Quality checking all material prior to the CNC process.
- Clean and maintain machinery / tools.
- Any technical machinery defaults are reported to the Production Manager in a timely manner.
- Compliance with Health & Safety procedures and responsibilities at all times.
- Safety conscious and wear correct PPE.
- General labouring duties.
Please note, this role will involve standing for long periods and working in warm and cold temperatures. It will also involve repeated lifting and carrying of products.
Requirements:
- Experience of working within a fast paced and demanding manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage.
- High attention to detail and level of accuracy.
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence would be an advantage.
- Have a can-do attitude and strive to meet deadlines and targets.
- Good communication skills.
- Numerate and literate, ability to read paperwork and understand measurements.
- Excellent attendance and time keeping is essential.
- Previous experience of operating machinery and hand power tools.
- Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.
- Be able to carry out a broad range of tasks across all areas of the manufacturing process.
Hours: Mon – Thurs 7.30am to 16.30pm Fri 7.30am to 12.30pm (39 hrs a week)
Breaks: 30-minute lunch & two 15-minute tea breaks
Start: ASAP
