Location: Usher Institute moves to a new building in Edinburgh Bioquarter, early 2024
The Usher Institute is looking for an Institute Facilities Manager. The post holder will organise and project manage the move of staff, students and partners into the new Usher Building at BioQuarter and oversee occupational arrangements during the initial phases of occupation. They will liaise with multiple stakeholders to develop and implement occupation schedules within the building, oversee the fit out of the building and have input into procurement processes and internal communication strategies.
Set up and manage processes for the new building infrastructure, working closely with Estates and CMVM colleagues. Provide advice and expert guidance to the Director of Professional Services end wider Usher Institute staff.
The Opportunity:
The Usher Institute sits within the Edinburgh Medical School in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. We also support the Health and Social Care Data-Driven Innovation Hub, part of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal.
This new Usher Building is a new multi-occupancy building housing up to 900 staff and students, including lease paying commercial partners. It will co-locate the Usher Institute with a community of partners from the public, private and third sectors - including small and medium-sized enterprises and health and care providers - working on the shared purpose of developing data-enabled solutions to benefit health and wellbeing.
This broad remit encompasses activities that include education, research, business and investor relationships. You will need to be comfortable and effective working as part of a team and independently. This is a busy environment, perfect for those who enjoy a role where you are entrusted with multiple tasks and where every day will be different.

- Evidence of team working, working collaboratively with colleagues, business partners and key stakeholders
- Flexible and diplomatic with proven negotiating skills to resolve conflicts and find common ground
- Comfortable engaging and networking with colleagues at all levels with ability to adapt your communications according to the audience
- Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and regulations.
- High level of computer literacy
