Experienced Dog Trainer

We are seeking an experienced Dog Trainer to join our dedicated team in Sudbury. If you possess excellent training techniques, a deep understanding of canine behaviour, and a genuine love for dogs, we want to hear from you!

Position Details:

  • Job Title: Experienced Dog Trainer
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Location: Based in and round Sudbury
  • Salary: £26,000-£28,000 (depending on experience) + Bonuses Available
  • Must be able to drive due to location of our training facility

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual sessions for dogs of various breeds and ages, focusing on obedience, behaviour modification, and socialisation.
  • Develop customised training plans based on the specific needs and goals of the dog and their owner, using positive reinforcement and reward-based techniques.
  • Assess and evaluate dog behaviour, identifying any underlying issues or challenges and providing appropriate training solutions.
  • Educate dog owners on effective training methods, handling techniques, and canine behaviour, empowering them to continue training after their residential stay has finished.
  • Provide guidance and support to owners on addressing common behavioural problems, such as aggression, separation anxiety, and leash pulling.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, training methods, and research in dog behaviour.
  • Assist with basic grooming tasks, such as nail trimming and ear cleaning, as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a professional dog trainer, working with various breeds and behavioural issues.
  • Proven expertise in obedience training, behaviour modification, and socialisation techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of canine behaviour, learning theory, and positive reinforcement training methods.
  • Ability to tailor training approaches to individual dogs and their owners, adapting to their unique needs and goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey training instructions to clients of diverse backgrounds.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for dogs.
  • Certification or accreditation in dog training is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with basic grooming tasks is a plus.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30-5pm then Saturday 8:30am til 1pm

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

  • Sudbury, Suffolk: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
