Job overview

Our Technical Cardiology team is expanding. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Cardiac Physiologist to start their career on a strong foundation with our dynamic, progressive team of Invasive Cardiac Physiologists. The successful applicant will receive training in both invasive and non-invasive cardiology. They will be supported by our Invasive Cardiac Physiologists to become a specialist within our Invasive Cardiac Physiologist Team. Training will be provided in required areas for suitable candidates so this is an ideal opportunity for newly qualified physiologists or those due to qualify this summer.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a key member of the Invasive Cardiology Physiology Team (75%) with some commitment to the non-invasive service (25%. They will work primarily within the Invasive Cardiology team.In this role they will:

  • Undertake physiological tests on patients to inform clinical diagnostic and support treatment.
  • Interpret clinical data to provide factual clinical reports.
  • Perform invasive procedures including angiography, PCI, device implants and device follow-up.
  • Perform and report non-invasive tests independently such as holter monitoring and 24 hour tape analysis.
  • Act as lead physiologist for provocative tests such as ETT and HUTT tests.
  • Participate in ongoing invasive cardiology training to gain competence in specialist and highly specialist procedures.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training of trainee staff
  • Undertake ongoing CPD activity
  • Contribute to departmental development, training programmes and organisation both in short and long term

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work as a key member of the Invasive Cardiology Physiology Team (75%) with some commitment to the non-invasive service (25%. They will work primarily within the Invasive Cardiology team delivering a professional service, which meets the needs of the Directorate, and the general clinical needs of the Trust.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Clinical

  • Perform a range of investigations carried out by the invasive and non-invasive cardiac physiology team. This will include 12 lead ECG, holter monitoring (fitting and analysis), ETT, HUTT, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (including IVUS, OCT, Pressure wire and rotablation) and device implantation and follow-up (in-house and remote). Training will be provided in required areas for suitable candidates.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency for all basic procedures.
  • Provide advice to clinicians and other healthcare professionals regarding procedure results when required
  • Participate and be willing to undergo training in specialised invasive procedures such as CRT/ S-ICD implantation, EP and TAVI/PFO.
  • Supervise and support trainee staff in the undertaking of diagnostic investigations.
  • Support departmental stock control and ordering
  • Contribute to the invasive team on call rota following period of training
