The National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) supports culture change in the UK higher education (HE) sector. Our mission is to help universities to create social value through increasing the quality and impact of their public engagement activity. We do this by supporting excellent public engagement practice; creating the conditions for public engagement to thrive in universities; and building strong networks and partnerships to amplify our impact.


We are an agile and creative organisation, funded by UK Research and Innovation, Research England, Wellcome, Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, Scottish Funding Council and the Department for Employment and Learning, Northern Ireland. The Centre is jointly hosted by University of the West of England (UWE) and University of Bristol (UoB), benefitting from being part of two vibrant universities.


This role is being recruited through UWE Bristol.


We need you to provide administrative support for a range of activities that we run like projects and events, to support our Directors with diary management, arranging appointments and ensuring they are fully prepared for meetings.


You’re someone who can use their initiative to react to changing priorities and competing demands. You’re experienced in providing diary management, you’re comfortable communicating professionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders and you always provide excellent customer service.


You should apply if:


  • You have excellent organisational, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • You can complete tasks to a high level of accuracy.
  • You are flexible and a good team player, as well as being able to work independently and show initiative.
  • You can work in a busy environment, both multi-tasking and reacting quickly to changing circumstances, but also be proactive in improving processes.
  • You are experienced in using a range of IT systems and are able to adapt to new systems and processes quickly.

Where is this role based?


This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects.


The NCCPE is currently based alongside the Arnolfini Gallery, in the cultural heart of the city and close to main transport links.

This is a part-time role, working 21 hours per week on a fixed-term basis, covering a period of maternity leave until 31 March 2024 or the return of the substantive post holder. This post is not available on a job share basis.


This role is campus based with the opportunity for remote working.


New appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
