This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the School of Clinical Medicine, providing the highest level of executive support for the Regius Professor of Physic. Professor Maxwell also holds a number of external appointments including as a Director of Cambridge University Health Partners and a non-executive Director of both Cambridge University Hospitals and Cambridge Enterprise. He is also currently Chair of the Medical Schools Council.
You will be part of a small but highly motivated team helping the Regius Professor meet all his operational and strategic goals. This is a position of exceptional responsibility requiring a creative and highly committed person with impeccable organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. As the senior executive assistant in the School, you will have the opportunity to coordinate across a network of EAs/PAs and work with senior managers in the School Office on Communications and some projects.
You must have experience of providing a high standard of administrative support, including diary management, travel planning and budget control, for a busy senior executive in a large and complex organisation. You will need to have excellent verbal and writing skills and ideally experience of editing text for publication, for example for newsletters and websites. You will need to have resilience, adaptability, tenacity and the ability to work under pressure will be essential. A record of working in the Higher Education sector is advantageous but not essential.
As gatekeeper for the Regius Professor, you will at all times be professional, efficient and courteous. Tact and diplomacy are essential to the job, as are confidence and the ability to think strategically. You will be expected to be persuasive and adept at communicating to others, internally and externally, the Regius's needs and be able to handle confidential matters with the utmost discretion. You will also be managing the work of a Personal Assistant who will work closely with you.
Closing date for applications is 16th March 2023 with interviews to be held on 23rd March 2023. There will also be a 2nd round interview for successful candidates on the 30th March in the afternoon.
