About the role
Do you have a passion for outdoor events and weddings? Do you thrive on creating memories to last a lifetime?
These are exciting times for Crawley Borough Council and we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, energetic and organised individual to work with external companies to deliver a range of events as well as to manage council-run events in our parks.
Representing the council in this public-facing role, we are looking for someone who puts visitor experience, customer service and health and safety at the top of their priorities. A key aspect of the role is to ensure all documentation is complete and to the satisfaction of the Safety Advisory Group.
As a licenced venue for marriages and civil ceremonies, you will need to have an eye for detail. Meeting couples who are interested in hosting their perfect day at Tilgate Park, you will be responsible for their tour of the Wedding Garden, Barn and reception spaces. Upon converting to a booking you will take care of all the admin and liaise with their suppliers for their special day.
For the most wonderful time of the year, you will be planning and co-ordinating our hugely popular Magical Christmas event, from organising traders and grotto appointments to booking performers and creating entertainment activities. You will be proactive in problem-solving and importantly, making sure that 'Elf and Safety' are on duty.
You’ll be creating engaging marketing for events and working with internal colleagues to publish press releases or social media content.
Whatever the weather, you will be helping to make outdoor events a success. Whether you are the venue coordinator for third-party events like Race for Life, Luna Cinema and the Dragon Boat race, or directing one of our own events, there’s always fun to be had at the fair.
Additional information
A normal working week consists of 37 hours within five working days, to be agreed with the Parks Manager.
Due to the nature of the role, you should expect to work some weekends, some unsocial hours and some bank holidays.
The post holder is required to hold and maintain a current full UK driving licence.
Satisfactory clearance of a Standard Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) is a condition of employment.
Employee benefits
We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.
Our way of working
Our shared values and behaviours reflect the special nature of our council. We encourage all colleagues to put them into practice, whatever job they do. Take a look to see if we are the perfect match.
Safer recruitment
Crawley Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.
