OUTLINE: To sell by converting corporate and private event enquiries into confirmed business. The definition of confirming an event, is the client both signing a contract and paying a deposit. The event is then passed to an Event Planner to upsell and detail the event, therefore allowing this position to focus on the momentum of selling quickly and efficiently, together with team management.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, mentor, develop, and motivate the sales and planning team members under you.
- Focus on servicing enquiries that are over £10k exc VAT in total estimated value, and/or companies with over 100 employees, so that your Event Sales Executive can focus on enquiries below this threshold, thus freeing you up to focus on big wins.
- Monitor, manage and exceed your personal objectives/targets and departmental monthly sales quotas, through adhering to established sales guidelines, programs, and procedures.
- Concentrate most of your effort and time towards establishing close relationships with corporate clients and venue-finding agencies, ensuring that they are always up to date on promotions, packages, and news.
- Ensure efficient and accurate creation of all client documents such as Proposals, Contracts, and Invoices, as per ‘in-house’ procedures set by the General Manager.
- Ensure a smooth transition when confirmed events are handed over to the Event Planner, and only once a contract is signed and deposit paid.
- Contract events according to established ‘in-house’ procedures, while ensuring guest and/or catering minimums are met, and key dates/spaces are optimized to maximum profit and potential.
- Reestablish contact with your original clients post event for feedback, future sales opportunities, and client retention reasons, thus completing the sales cycle.
- Professionally represent IWM Duxford in all sales transactions and networking* opportunities, such as related industry meetings, functions and shows.
- As required, assist your team members with collection of deposits and past due debts from event clients.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of a departmental Sales & Marketing Plan, to include areas of research, analysis, and action points with costs and timeframes.
- Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply & demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
- Respond empathetically and professionally to any customer complaints, seeking advice from the General Manager for any uncertainties, either before, during or post event.
- Become proficient in the use of the event management software used at IWM Duxford and follow it’s set procedures including compliance, while always quality controlling any inputted data.
- Prepare for and chair the weekly sales meeting, having completed any of your action points from the previous meeting.
- Submit the weekly CPS (sales forecast) report, to ensure accurate forecasting of the business with a structured approach to improvement where forecasts fall short of expectation.
- Adhere to the standard daily office hours, leave policy, lunch procedure, and departmental dress code, as set by the General Manager.
- Handle special event related projects as assigned by the General Manager.
- Support the C&E department in training, developing and managing any other new hires.
Ideal Candidate:
- At least four years experience in a similar role
- Experience with event management software
- Intermediate-advanced level in MS Office products
- Good communication skills in order to be able to liaise with a wide range of team members and customers within your work environment.

- Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude

Salary: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
