Events Manager for Connected Data London (Remote, Fixed Term Contract)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Events Manager to organise and manage the annual Connected Data London conference and exhibition event. The event was founded in 2016 and has seen consistent growth with the last completely in person event in 2019 culminating in over 250 delegates.

During the pandemic we moved to an online only format running 2 successful online events and we are looking for someone to join the team to blend the best of our physical in person and online events into a new hybrid conference and exhibition format for an event planned in Autumn 2023.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for running great technology conferences and an interest in semantic technology, graph databases, Knowledge Graphs and AI. Ideally the candidate will be an independent events management specialist running technology / data events and have part time capacity for leading the Connected Data London event from an event logistics, marketing and sponsorship sales perspective.

Job type & status:

Fully remote on a part time Fixed Term Contract (FTC) basis - initially for a 6 month period for 2-3 days per week ideally located within a European timezone and country. The role will require occasional travel to the UK for the event itself in Autumn and potentially one pre meeting with all travel expenses covered. There is an opportunity for the role to be extended to future events based on the outcome of 2023’s event and future plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute all aspects of Connected Data London 2023 event, including budgeting, scheduling, marketing, promotion, sponsorship sales, speaker management, event advisory committee, logistics, and post-event follow-up.
  • Research and identify potential vendors, and sponsors, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
  • Manage the Connected Data social media accounts on Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Instagramas well as the Connected Data podcastand YouTubechannel using our automation tools
  • Manage our meetup grouppage and mailchimp mailing list.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote Connected Data London and increase attendance via events platforms, social media.
  • Work closely with the programming team to create a compelling conference agenda that appeals to a broad audience.
  • Manage on-site logistics and ensure the smooth running of the event, including registration, AV, and other event-related services. We wish to run a hybrid event in 2023 so managing 3rd party suppliers of streaming equipment is essential.
  • Liaise with our graphic design partner on design collateral for the event including speaker cards, sponsorship prospectus and other event collateral.
  • Develop sponsorship prospectus detailing available packages prior to engaging in sales campaigns using our sponsor database.
  • Perform research and benchmarking activities to other competitor events for pricing strategy.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, vendors, speakers, and attendees.
  • Manage a team of event staff and volunteers on the day.
  • Manage the event booking process
  • Analyse event feedback and metrics to evaluate success and identify areas for improvement.

Essential Requirements:

The following are essential for this role:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event management, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Ability to set up and update event website via Content Management System.
  • Ability to perform basic design and content creation
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large events to time and budget.

Bonus Requirements:

The following are useful, but not essential, for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Existing knowledge of semantic technology, graph databases, Knowledge Graphs and AI, and their application in business and industry.
  • Experience chairing or hosting events and panel discussions as a facilitator, track lead or speaker.
  • Experience writing copy / proof reading and writing blogs.

Day rate and commercials:

Connected Data is a trading name of Neural Alpha Ltd, a technology and data consultancy based in the UK. The successful contractor would enter into a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) with Neural Alpha ltd.

Depending on the candidates experience we offer a day rate of GBP £300 to GBP £450 per day invoiced monthly in arrears.
