We are a global media business specialising in the gaming industry. We have a publishing arm consisting of a dozen owned websites including PCGamesN.com, and over 100 network site partners such as TrueAchievements.com. We produce excellent content for clients via our creative agency team, and work with publishers and advertisers to unlock audience value. We are based in Bath but are open to taking on remote employees within the UK too.

PCGamesN is the world's second-biggest PC gaming website, dedicated to finding and serving the most entertaining news, the most helpful guides, the most thought-provoking features, and up-to-the-minute hardware coverage to help PC gamers worldwide get the most from their hobby. The successful candidate will have a hunger for juicy news stories, and a keen eye for potential exclusive opportunities.

The Role
Work with the News Editor to produce news coverage: keep a constant eye on the news landscape during the UK evening shift (4pm to midnight) to identify potential stories, apply our news strategy to prioritise them, and write them up to our standards. Understand the structure of a news story and the craft of packaging them (headlines, SEO, etc). Pursue further coverage (especially by seeking comment) or alternate angles as appropriate. Must be comfortable and capable working outside normal office hours and with limited supervision (though editors will be on call if needed).

You will be responsible for:
  • Writing daily news stories, with a focus on original reporting, and occasional opinion pieces and features
  • Ensuring consist editorial standards across all published content
  • Uploading stories to site CMS
  • Conducting interviews and transcription
  • Using all appropriate tools and resources to search for daily news
  • Keeping up-to-date of industry trends and talking points
  • Spotting, pursuing, and researching opportunities for original investigations
  • Identifying opportunities for further coverage of, or alternate angles on, trending stories
  • Building and maintaining relationships with PRs, developers, publishers, community sources etc
  • Attending and reporting from industry events
  • Other as requested by the News Editor, Deputy Editor, or Editor

You will have/be/be able to:
  • Able to write efficiently, quickly, and to task across a range of disciplines, especially news
  • Able to find the most interesting, important, and urgent news stories on their shift, and the most interesting angles upon them
  • Able to write and publish at least five news stories per shift (unless otherwise agreed with News Editor)
  • Able to process and apply feedback, including on rapidly changing SEO best practices, to ensure every story has its best chance of finding its audience
  • Plan and prioritise workload to meet agreed deadlines
  • Experience writing news or features, preferably online
  • Applies expertise; use basic company tools effectively to achieve work objectives
  • Proactivity, attention to detail, and a good standard of organisation
  • Bring new ideas for longer-form opportunities for coverage by the team, discussing in weekly meetings with the team
  • Must be able to produce proof of right to work in the UK by the start of employment


You will ideally have/be/be able to:
  • An interest in PC games and a good knowledge of them
