Flexible working - This role can be based at our Bracknell or London offices. However please note that if based in London, this role will require self funded travel to Bracknell at least once a week (usually Wednesdays). We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business
Salary range - The salary range for this role is set at £42,200 -£60,600
About the role
Sustainability is deeply rooted in our DNA here at the John Lewis Partnership and it is central to our pursuit of a happier world. We are excited to be recruiting for an Ethics & Sustainability Specialist within our Agriculture team. The successful candidate will play a key part in the acceleration and integration of our sustainability plans in JLP, in particular the delivery of our Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Strategy in Waitrose. Your work will have a direct influence on the fresh produce we sell, helping to deliver positive impacts on the farmed environment and communities we source from, alongside commercial results.
Day to day you will:
Work with your fellow Partners and our suppliers to deliver the objectives of the Agriculture plan,including but not limited to, the promotion of regenerative agriculture practices in our supply chains, peat reduction and alternatives, integrated water management and supply chain resilience.
Continue to build on the collaborative relationships with our supply partners, and producer groups, to enable the delivery of our commercial, sustainability and technical objectives, and collect and analyse data to track this
Work with the wider Ethics and Sustainability team to enable the practical implementation of their objectives within our supply base.
Keep abreast of the latest developments within the industry and communicate as appropriate across the business.
Seek out and develop communicable messages, together with our communications team, to help demonstrate to our customers how we are delivering our values across our supply chains
Essential skills you’ll need
Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant experience in specialism (e.g. agriculture, fresh produce or sustainable supply chains).
Good IT and data management skills
Good written and verbal communicator
Excellent organisational skills
Ability to interpret and communicate agriculture data
Strong interest in and passion for sustainability and regenerative agriculture
Strong attention to detail
Experience in leading the delivery of successful strategic projects
Professional experience in work relating to fresh produce supply chains
