An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Scottish Water Cost Intelligence team as an Estimator as the team helps Scottish Water invest £3.9bn in Capital Investment projects over the next 5 years.

Main Purpose of Role
You will be part of a small team of estimators who cost non-infrastructure projects like water treatment works upgrades and waste water pumping stations using a number of pricing methodologies to reflect the project stage and design development. The workload will consist of pricing projects through the full project lifecycle from early stage optioneering to agreeing construction estimates with our framework contractors.

You will work collaboratively with our internal stakeholders and framework contractors to provide suitable costing information to ensure Scottish Water delivers its capital investment programme whilst achieving best value for our customers.

You will be based at The Bridge (Stepps) however Scottish Water encourages hybrid working. The role will report to the Estimating Team Leader.

Additionally, you will be a key contributor in setting the required behaviours within the team, they will work collaboratively with the Scottish Water project team and our Alliance Partners estimating teams to build strong and sustainable relationships to enable Scottish Water to deliver its capital investment programme.

Key accountabilities and Tasks:
You will be required to carry out the following tasks as part of your role;
  • Use technical drawings and work packs to create estimates that are clear and accurate using an estimating software package.
  • Review and check other team members work to ensure the teams outputs are accurate and consistent and comply with the framework contract should they be subject to audit.
  • Work collaboratively with our internal and external stakeholders to build positive relationships that allow knowledge sharing to promote efficient pricing of projects.

Technical Skills, knowledge and Experience Required
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
  • An awareness of NEC suite of contracts and its underlying principles
  • Construction experience and understanding of technical drawings, experience of the Water industry preferred but not essential
  • The ability to reach reasonable agreements which provides an acceptable solution for both Scottish Water and our Alliance Partners whilst being able to demonstrate that we are providing our Customers with Value for Money.

The salary scale for this role is £31,380 - £43,350, dependent on your skills and experience
