POSITION SUMMARY:
The Trade Marketing manager is responsible for developing and executing Estee Lauder retail marketing strategy for the UK & Ireland. This includes 3 key focus areas:
- Building Trade Marketing Plans with the Product Marketing and Sales team by National Account
- Gift With Purchase/ promotional calendar, forecasting and budget management
- Oversee the Trade and GWP budget
The purpose of the role is to position Estee Lauder as a key partner towards our retailers, in line with the brand objectives as well as drive brand distortion through strong retail event/gift strategy and execution. Working in partnership with our Product Marketing team and NAMs, the Trade Marketing Manager is responsible for enhancing consumer experience and connection to the brand shaping and driving bespoke omni-channel retail marketing plans across the UK & Ireland, to ensure strong commercial momentum.
The role has 1 direct report, the Trade & Promo Marketing Executive.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Trade
- Shape and execute the retail marketing plan across UK & Ireland region.
- Drive Estee Lauder brand awareness across our key retailers positioning Estee Lauder as a key partner with our retailers.
- Act as the Point of contact for Retail marketing direction, working with key content stakeholders (NAMs, Sales, Education, VM PR & Comms, CRM, Social).
- Analytics: conduct competitors audits and benchmarking, trend tracking to identify risks and opportunities and shape retail marketing plans accordingly.
- Set up best practice and reporting system to provide the business with a consolidated view of the retail marketing plans efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Define and drive Estee Lauder retailers’ exclusive programs as well the retailer programs, including special events, with retailer differentiation in mind.
- Create marketing plans for individual top 10 doors (incl. Selfridges, Harrods and Brown Thomas).
- Lead and manage the creation of the twice-yearly retailer strategy presentation, responsible for developing timelines, driving all ross functional teams delivery and ensuring follow up with all retailers to lock in campaign plans and activations.
- Ensure smooth adaptation and integration of globally created content into Estee Lauder marketing plans with key retailers.
Promo
- Delivering the Estée Lauder Promotional GWP strategy and calendar.
- Plan and implement all aspects of the regional GWP program and activity from approving strategic gift mixes through to the execution on counter and analysis of results, ensuring a smooth running and successful promotional programme.
- Track Gift performance per door to create a framework highlighting best practices.
- Strategically plan co-op advertising schedule with Consumer Engagement.
- Work closely with Creative on all collateral and visual merchandising.
- Develop strategies to improve ROI on promotional activities across all retailer campaign activations and programmes.
- Direct liaison with Estee Lauder Global Teams on strategy and product forecasting.
- Ensure that competitive activity id monitored & documented. Share findings with Global & wider UK team.
- Develop and execute on regionally relevant cultural and promotional moments to best drive brand inclusivity and credibility with retailers.
- Manage excess on gifts / promo.
Other
- Manage, motivate and develop the direct report
- Deliver budget efficiency across Trade & GWP cost centres
Qualifications
- Education to degree level or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in product marketing, with a strong understanding and passion for the beauty industry / Fragrance experience preferred but not essential.
- Strong commercial omni-channel acumen with thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape and market /consumer trends – both on and offline
- Proven ability to drive share gains /category growth via commercial launch /activation plans and measure performance.
- Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced environment, driving momentum on projects and proactively planning ahead.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills:
- Strong team player able to drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Comfortable working with people at all levels of the organization and able to develop working relationships across the corporation
- Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and comfortable delivering presentations to a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills:
- Able to analyse and evaluate multiple sources of both quantitative and qualitative data to draw conclusions and make sound, well-reasoned business recommendations.
- Comfortable building forecasts and making educated recommendations based on data trends.
- Experienced working on pricing and comfortable conducting the in-depth analyses required to review RRPs and make recommendations for annual increases.
- Strong leadership skills:
- Able to take a wide, strategic view of all responsibilities and projects, conscious of implications for other departments and proactive in aligning and engaging all in the plan, clarifying requirements of others ahead of time.
