Job summary
Episkopi Station sits within the Western Sovereign Base area of British Forces Cyprus. Its community consists of Tri-Service personnel, UK based Civil Servants, Locally Engaged Civilians (LEC) and Contractors working within Station and Lodger Units including the 2* HQ. We benefit from the richness of a “One Team” approach, along with a wealth of diversity across the Station. The focus for Episkopi and Troodos Stations is Operational and we currently support many strategic projects including a dislocated sub-unit in Troodos. Civil Service roles in Episkopi Station are challenging but at the same will develop your skills, providing you with immense job satisfaction.

The Establishment Security Officer is the Station Commander's primary Security advisor.
As a member of the Station Management Team, liaising with the Station 2IC and the Garrison Sergeant Major, you will be expected to coordinate the day-to-day access and security of this lively Station. We expect the Establishment Security Officer to enforce all current security policies and additionally provide security advice to the Resident Infantry Battalion (RIB), Station Lodger units and the wider entitled community. We look to you to fill the role of the focal point in the Station, grasping opportunities for improvement and innovation.
This is an established MoD post within Cyprus and any Cypriot National will not be eligible to apply as a UKBC.
Tour length is 4 years with a possibility of a further years extension.

Job description
The Establishment Security Officer is responsible for:
- Assessment of Threat to the Security of the Unit and the planning and implementation of countermeasures, including the preparation of a contingency plan in the event of a terrorist incident.
- Maintain and control on behalf of the HoE the Station Security Risk Register (SRR) / Unit Risk and Resilience Register (URRR).
- Liaise with HQ BFC Security Staff, CJPU, CJSU, SFP, RIB and SBA Police to deliver effective security and force protection across Episkopi and Troodos Stations. Including attendance at meeting and working groups appropriate to role.
- Assume TACOM responsibility, through the Stn Comd, for the WSBA Detachment of Security Force Police (SFP).
- Maintenance of protective security through systematic reviews, checks and inspections. Including Security Reporting and adherence to Security regulations.
- Deliver Control of Entry through effective use of AIPS Policy
- Manage and provide assurance to a Branch Security Officer (BSyO) and a Branch Information and Technology Security Officer (BITSO) network.
- Act as PVRO for Episkopi Station and administered Lodger Units.
- Delivery of Security Education through J2 / CJSU of all established Station personnel including Lodger Units.
- Provide security advice to all personnel arranging activities or events within the Episkopi cantonment.
- Be prepared to give out of hours SME advice to tasked security providers if requested by the Station Duty Officer or Commanding Officer.
- Provide oversight and management (incl advice and guidance) to the ESyO Troodos Station where necessary and in line with the Station Commanders intent to deliver a policy compliant and mirrored service across the two establishments.
Deliver effective Line Management for (five) locally employed personnel in line with current Civ HR Policy.

Person specification
Essential
- Experience in the management of a broad range of staff, knowledge of tasking agreements and the measuring of key performance indicators.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of Risk Management
- Working within a Military environment; being able to communicate, both verbally and in written format, to build effective plans, maintain communication channels and relationships with key stakeholders up to 2* level.
- Working knowledge of SISYS the Site Access Management System or equivalent data management tools/access control systems and the ability to train both civilian and military staff in access control management.
