ESG Risk Specialist

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
- Staying abreast of the latest developments in climate science and how this is relevant to, or how it is translating into tools and practices used for our customers
- Engaging in and closely following market developments with regards to industry and sector decarbonisation initiatives and plans and having a view on these
- Working with the various Sustainable Finance business lines to understand what ESG regulations and first line risk management efforts are needed
- Identifying opportunities for first-line risk, regulatory and governance process efficiencies and implement corresponding solutions
- Reviewing the current modelling, delivering and designing frameworks for both transition risk and physical models assessing and iterating against existing client climate models
- Conducting ESG assessment at the counterparty and transaction level, supporting execution and optimisation of structured ESG portfolio transactions
- Ensuring operational risks linked to the ongoing operational insertion of new ESG related credit matters are identified and adequate relating controls in place
- Working with ESG /Sustainability aligned teams across Barclays in order to implement and track optimisation initiatives
- Solid understanding of financial metrics (P&L, MtM, LBS, RWAs, funding) and risk metrics, and a track record in prising actionable insights from large and complex financial data sets
- Data mining hands-on experience of manipulating/transforming/processing large data sets using SQL or similar technologies (e.g. Python)
- Experience of developing tools (pricing/reporting/scenario analysis/analytics) to support decision making
- Excellent and demonstrable analytical, design and problem solving skills, an ability to communicate complex concepts at different levels of seniority and detail/technicality
- Knowledge of the macroeconomic landscape including key themes under ESG
- Demonstrable experience of working effectively with technology teams to deliver on projects
- Experience of other programming languages, e.g. Python, R, SAS etc.
- Some credit skills & regulatory knowledge

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
