SALARY: £22-24k

HOURS: 22.5 per week

LOCATION: REMOTE

A bit about us

The Air Ambulance Service provides two very important functions, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and The Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) which provides paediatric transfers across the UK. Our objective is to save lives, utilising specialist pilots, doctors, and paramedics and with our work centred on saving lives, improving clinical outcomes and being able to react quickly and efficiently to emergencies.

We are at the forefront of innovative clinical care, and we challenge boundaries. None of this can be achieved without a hugely dedicated team of colleagues, volunteers, and the general public.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager (EDI) is a new and critical role within The Air Ambulance Service. Working closely with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, as well as the EDI Sponsors, the post holder will lead on developing and implementing our EDI Strategy to help us to deliver our ambitions.


Person Specification

  • Experience of working on the design and delivery of EDI strategies and processes
  • Demonstrable experience of helping to initiate and deliver cultural change and/or organisational development aimed at creating an inclusive organisation
  • Ability to draw on the experience, knowledge, and skills of others to diagnose, design and implement solutions to EDI challenges across the organisation
  • Experience of developing, delivering, and monitoring operational plans and projects, within budget
  • Ability to set up data and insight systems, and to analyse data before presenting it to a range of audiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team with pace


Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team and EDI Sponsors to ensure successful delivery of our EDI Strategy and Plan
  • Be our subject expert including keeping up to date with legislation, patterns, and trends
  • Act as project manager on the EDI strategy and plan, matrix managing colleagues to ensure delivery
  • Work with colleagues to define our data needs and develop and embed GDPR compliant data collection systems so we can track and report on data trends and progress against target indicators
  • Oversee the delivery of our calendar of EDI related celebration and learning
  • Facilitate and chair our EDI Network Chairs meeting, ensuring the Networks have clear remit and focus; support the EDI Steering Group
  • Ensure that the principles and practices of EDI are embedded in all aspects of our work from the services we deliver, the partners we work with, the language and images we use, to the communities we reach
  • With support, provide advice to our Trustees, Executive Leadership Team, and Senior Leadership Team on all aspects of EDI to ensure compliance and best practice in all that we do
