Job description

GLAM Environmental Sustainability Project Manager
Our challenge is to minimise our contribution to climate change and achieve carbon net zero by 2035. We need an Environmental Sustainability Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of our plan to achieve this. Working with the baseline data and outline decarbonisation plans already developed with our staff and specialist consultancy 3Adapt, you’ll support delivery, monitor progress, a report to relevant stakeholders. You’ll work collaboratively across teams, constructively challenging and influencing in order to embed our sustainability agenda into everyday behaviour and decision-making across the organisation. You’ll keep up to date with best practice externally, ensuring we learn effectively from others. You’ll represent GLAM in key stakeholder meetings and build your network with key industry contacts.
The Gardens, Libraries and Museums of the University of Oxford (GLAM)
GLAM consists of six departments – the Bodleian Libraries, four Museums (Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers, Museum of Natural History and History of Science) and the Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum (OBGA). Following on from an initial project examining carbon emissions baseline data across GLAM, you will help take forward and support the Environmental Sustainability programme within GLAM.
The libraries, museums and OBGA work at different scales and are all at different stages in developing and implementing their own Environmental Sustainability plans. You will work with each of them to identify what support they require. You will also share learning and advice across GLAM, for example around the staff engagement programmes that we could use to create energy and excitement around this project.
Selection Criteria
This role requires demonstrable knowledge of and experience of working in the field of Environmental Sustainability. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will require project management skills and excellent people skills to develop and deliver a coherent strategy and comprehensive plan to reduce our carbon footprint and align our activities with the overall sustainability strategy of the University and best practice in the sector.
Contract
This is a 2 year fixed term contract.
Closing and interview dates
Only applications received online before 12:00 midday (GMT/BST) on 20 September 2023 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on 4 October 2023.
