HELPING TO KEEP TOWER HAMLETS CLEANER AND SAFER
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Environmental Services Team.
We are looking for a highly self-motivated person with extensive Environmental Crime Enforcement experience and Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As an Environmental Services Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Borough is a clean and safe place for everyone. You will do this by inspecting public areas for signs of environmental crime, such as dumped rubbish, graffiti, fly posting, hazards, and eyesores. You will also be responsible for educating the public about environmental health regulations and enforcing these regulations when necessary.
In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and experience:
- A demonstrated ability to communicate with people from all walks of life
- Working knowledge of environmental legislation
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- The ability to work regular early mornings, late evenings, and weekends on a shift pattern
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for identifying and resolving issues that impact on the quality of the local environment. Providing education and advice to deal with enviro-crime, and taking enforcement action as required.
Ensure that through effective communication, advice and publicity people take responsibility for management of their waste. Ensuring the use of enforcement action where necessary to tackle antisocial and illegal activity such as littering, fly-tipping, graffiti, flyposting, and dog fouling.
Requirements
Ability to work outside of normal working hours as part of shift rota to cover weekend and out of hours.
The post has Essential Car Allowance. Post holder should have a full UK drivers licence.
Able to work in a target driven environment. Excellent communicator with the ability to persuade, influence and listen to others.
Able to effectively build networks and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
