Job Description*
Make your mark as an Environmental Reporting Scientist at Gardline!*
We are looking for an Environmental Reporting Scientists to be responsible for the analysis, interpretation and presentation of marine environmental data in reports to our clients. You will be part of the team responsible for producing our environmental habitat assessments, baselines/monitoring reports and mitigation compliance reports.
The role is office based in Great Yarmouth.
Your responsibilities include:
- Analysing, interpreting and presenting data relevant to the Marine Wildlife and/or Environmental disciplines (training will be given where required) sufficient to satisfy client requirements.
- Qualitative, quantitative, statistical and geospatial analysis of data using appropriate software (training will be given where required).
- Interpretation of ecological status and effects of anthropogenic activities pertinent to the project.
- Drafting reports based on field data, data analyses and interpretations.
- Maintaining quality control records for reporting and report production.
- Updating databases with individual project metadata and key analysis results when required.
Qualifications*
Your qualities*
You can make your mark as an Environmental Reporting Scientist if you have:
- Qualification to Bachelor degree level (or equivalent), in a relevant discipline (e.g. Marine Biology / Environmental Science etc.)
- Proven scientific writing capability
- Marine survey and reporting experience
- Passion, personal drive and analytical bias
- Possess excellent organisational, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- An understanding of marine ecology, habitat classification, marine wildlife, mitigation and chemical processes along with associated legislation covering habitat and species protection are essential to the role.
- Previous experience of conducting marine environmental surveys, marine acoustic surveys, environmental impact assessment, taxonomy, environmental research or marine mammal mitigation would be advantageous.
- Experience of using and understanding Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS and statistical software packages would be beneficial.
- Experience in programming for automating data analysis would be desirable.
- Team spirit, flexibility and a collaborative work ethic.
