If you are a Data Analyst who is a blend of data cruncher, critical thinker, and creative problem solver who is excited by environmental data then we need you.
The Environment has many sources of environmental data including, flood risk, water quality and quantity, biodiversity, air quality, emissions, waste, as well as management information. We are seeking someone who can deliver data visualisations and compelling evidence reports to our operational teams/managers and senior leaders to; address environmental inequalities and risks, better understand our patterns of delivery and level of impact/success, and better target our resources.
We require someone who can take the initiative, build relationships and networks, and can easily and enthusiastically relay complex issues to expert and non-expert audiences. If you are interested in making a real difference to the environment and working on some cutting-edge projects this could be the role for you.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will also be required to be part of our exciting Incident Management Response team. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
Some key skills you should have will include:
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - sharing trends, conclusions and making recommendations on the basis of your analysis.
- Data management - able to identify, collect, migrate, manipulate and analyse data to and from a range of systems
- Data visualisation – ability to interpret requirements and present data in a clear and compelling way.
- Logical and creative thinking skills
- Well-versed in GIS, mapping systems and statistical methods
- Good environmental awareness
- Self-motivated and able to plan and monitor workloads to fit around priorities.
The role is based at the Nottingham Environment Agency office. However, we work flexibly, and may agree alternative base for the right candidate. Staff also spend time working from home.
