Work Pattern: Full time 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Part Time, Annualised Hours, Compressed Hours or Term Time Working considered - discussions at interview stage welcome.

Job description

Environment Team activities lie at the heart of delivering the Sustainable Management of our Natural Resources in Wales and tackling the Climate and Nature Emergencies.

As an officer in the Environment Team, you will help to secure effective management of sites through advice and guidance and working in partnership to deliver projects to address biodiversity declines.

You will be field and office based, you will need to write reports, collect evidence and engage with a variety of stakeholders in the private and public sectors. The ability to communicate well both in writing and verbally is therefore essential for this role.

As part of NRW’s role as a Category 1 responder under the Civil Contingencies Act the post holder will also respond safely, timely and efficiently to environmental incidents, including those of illegal activities and undertake appropriate investigation and enforcement work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional officer who can work at a fast pace, often to tight deadlines and who is able to effectively prioritise their workload to deliver more for the environment. If this sounds like you – apply now!

Knowledge and experience of the following:

a working knowledge of fisheries, conservation or biodiversity.

An understanding of the sustainable management of natural resources.

Strong and effective self-management and organisational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and partners; explaining issues and gaining support by influencing.

Ability to work well as part of a team.

Current full UK valid licence to drive NRW fleet vehicles. (cars and vans)
