GLOBAL ENGLISH Instructors (Summer Contract Position)

Canadian International Student Services (CISS) is currently looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to fill teaching positions at our programme in North Vancouver.
Teachers should be energetic, organized, creative, and team oriented. They will be passionate about guiding young people to realize their ambitions to become leaders and to make a positive impact on the world. They must be willing to embrace the diverse cultural environment we offer at our programmes.

JOB DETAILS:
$25/hour, 20 hours of lessons per week
Language lessons are taught mornings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday (15 hours each week). Teachers must also lead Future-Ready skills workshops on Monday and Wednesday afternoons (5 hours each week).
Varying contract lengths are available from July 10 – August 5, 2023
Mandatory (paid) Training for teachers from July 8-9.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Morning English classes offer a student-centred, progressive approach to language acquisition. Using modern language-teaching techniques, our highly qualified and experienced English teachers focus on improving communication skills and building confidence in self-expression, while challenging students to expand their vocabulary and improve their knowledge of how the language works.
Two afternoons per week, students participate in workshops designed to enhance the language learning experience while focusing on developing “Future-Ready” skills that are considered essential for success in today’s ever-changing workplace.
Workshops should provide interactive and engaging activity-based challenges designed to push students to think in new ways, learn new approaches to problem-solving, and work as a team to achieve their goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide a safe and welcoming learning environment.
- Encourage students to speak English at all times.
- Teach lessons that are inspiring, engaging, and relevant for teens.
- Encourage active student participation in lessons and presentations.
- Model positive behaviour.
- Attend and participate in all mandatory staff meetings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching ESL
- Experience teaching teens aged 11-18 years
- Valid First-Aid and CPR
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have Bachelor of Education or TESL/TESOL certificate recognized by TESL Canada, or CELTA/DELTA
- Passionate about helping youth succeed in their language goals
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to commute to Capilano University Campus
- Police Reference Check required

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
- English as a Second Language Tutors: 1 year (preferred)
