Engineers - Graduate Entry Level, Rolls-Royce Submarines
Locations: Derby, Glasgow,

For over 60 years Rolls-Royce Submarines has designed, supplied and supported the nuclear propulsion plant that provides power for all of the UK Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines. We’re currently supporting the existing Astute and Dreadnought boat build programmes through the delivery of reactor plant and associated components. Additionally, we provide frontline support across the world for reactor plant equipment from our Operations Centre in Derby and support the submarines when in the Barrow-in-Furness shipyard and the naval bases at Devonport and Faslane.

What you’ll do:
- You will be based at our Raynesway facility in Derby or at our new offices in Glasgow, with potential opportunities to support site activities at dockyards and Naval bases across the UK.
- You will be involved in activities that support the delivery of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plants (NSRP), which provide power for all of the UK’s submarines.
- As an entry level graduate, you’ll immediately contribute and add value to our ongoing and future engineering programmes, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept design through to decommissioning.
- While not part of the structured graduate programme, you’ll still get plenty of support. Alongside on-the-job training and guidance, we’ll help you create and work to a personal development plan. You’ll also have your own mentor who’ll be there to help you realise your potential and think about where you might want to take your Rolls-Royce career.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll need to have obtained a degree in one of the following STEM subjects:
- Any Engineering degree including, but not limited to, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aero/Auto, Chemical, Safety and Reliability, Human Factors and Nuclear
- Product Design
- Chemistry
- Science
- Maths
- Materials
- Manufacturing
- Physics
You’ll also need:
- An open-minded, curious, collaborative and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Initiative, drive and adaptability to build your desired career, with support from our leaders
- A passion for the future of sustainable power and the work you do
- A love of learning and applying of new perspectives to your work
- Knowledge of nuclear technology an advantage, but not essential
To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person must be a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
