Job description
The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Engineering Technician to provide specialist technical services to academic staff, research staff and students to support research and teaching projects.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
Either:
- a) OND/ONC and/or NVQ level 3 or above (or equivalent standard) in a relevant engineering/mechanical discipline and/or a recognised apprenticeship completed in an engineering environment
OR
b) Lower qualifications with more relevant experience. - Three years’ recent relevant post qualification/apprenticeship experience in an engineering/mechanical environment or service.
- Demonstrable experience of:
- mechanical design and assembly with the ability to identify and safely use the most appropriate equipment and tools for the task
- working in a lab or workshop environment with an understanding of the safe working procedure manual handling and safe sling lifting techniques
- maintaining equipment and/or workshop machinerytraining others in the use of equipment or tasks use in an engineering environment.
OR
- Where criteria b) applies, applicants must demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience in the areas listed above.
