Job Overview
- The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for a team of multi-skilled engineers in Scotland, Northern Ireland and North West (Carlisle area), which will be a subset of a Region. These engineers will be responsible for the pro-active and reactive maintenance of assets in their location/patch. The primary role of the Engineering Supervisor will be to lead, support and challenge their group of engineers to deliver the best service possible. They may also be playing a hands-on engineer role working on the tools conducting reactive and preventative maintenance tasks. They will ensure their team have the knowledge, tools, and equipment to work safely, effectively, and efficiently. This is a people manager role and as such the Engineering Supervisor (Supported by the Regional Operations Manager) will be responsible for providing regular feedback on the performance of individuals in their team and as part of formal end of year reviews.
Main Duties
- As an Engineering Supervisor you will ensure 1) Your team of multi-skilled engineers work safely and adhere to all Mitie's relevant Health and Safety Policies 2) Support your team to be the best they can 3) Challenge your team to be the best they can.
- Be a visible Supervisor to your team through all mediums available, i.e., Face2Face meetings, Site visits, Teams Calls and email communication.
- Proactive supervision of your team, completing regular site visits, to support functions such as but not limited to Quality Audits, Health and Safety Audits, Mentoring, Coaching and Training.
- Working with key internal stake holders, oversee and manage the delivery model for the attainment of preventative, reactive and quality KPI's in your geographical region of control.
- Drive service excellence within your teams (Motivate, Develop and Engage).
- Ensure the entire field teams are trained and accredited to the correct level to fulfil their tasks.
- Support on the recruitment of new engineers.
- Ensure we have enough engineers (Availability) on the park to deliver the work required and within SLA.
- Work with your national peers to share “Best Practice.”
- Set and continuously measure the SMART objectives of your team members.
- Adopt a “Be here now” approach, take time to listen to your team on an individual or group basis.
- Be a role model for “Mitie First” self-delivery ambition and limit/reduce spend with third parties.
- Muck in and contribute your time as a hands-on engineer.
- Give positive feedback when due, inspire individuals to grow and develop.
- Address individuals poor performance early and put in place appropriate steps to support improvement
What we are looking for
- Proven experience of leading a team of multi skilled engineers in an FM environment, achieved at a team engineer/team leader level.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety within a field environment.
- Excellent communications skills both written and spoken with good presentation skills.
- Experience of building relationships with the peers across a delivery organisation, i.e., a mix of FM's, AFM's, Clients and end user/tenants.
- Confidence to step up and play a people manager role.
