Job title: Engineering Project Manager
Location: Rochester

Salary: Up to £70,000 Depending on skills & experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing, maintaining and delivering an engineering development strategy for the project using the principles of incremental and agile development
- Developing a supportive and collaborative team working environment
- Owning the engineering budgets, ensuring adherence to the schedule and the quality of the product designed, making sure it is fit for purpose and compliant with customer requirements
- Assessing engineering risks and developing mitigation strategies
- Developing and maintaining the Engineering Management Plan describing all aspects of engineering work for the programme, including programme tailoring
- Supporting the development of subcontracted items, developing and implementing a collaborative strategy to ensure they are successful
- Owning the ‘Design Fors’ with focus on design for Life, including manufacturing, testing, reliability and maintainability
- Facilitating and making technical decisions for the project, identifying and trading the various factors involved
- Utilising Maturity Management to validate the correctness of work being produced by the team
- You’ll also have people manager responsibilities in this role
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Demonstrable experience leading a team in at least one key Engineering discipline (ideally having performed a cross functional team leading role)
- Technical knowledge within Electronic Systems, Avionics, Rail, Medical or Automotive industries would be ideal
- Demonstrable experience managing the costs for the engineering work within the allocated budget
Desirable
- Experience articulating engineering strategy and motivating teams to realise it
- Demonstrable experience managing and mitigating risks utilising specific techniques for engineering projects

The Electronic Systems team:
The Electronic Systems team spans the commercial and defence electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare and night vision systems; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems.
