Every year, Scottish Water is pleased to host a variety of summer internship programmes, open to university students in the penultimate year of their degree programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your studies and challenge yourself to develop your practical skills in line with your future career aspirations.
We are delighted this year to be able to offer a 12-week Summer Internship from June to September 2023, specialising in Project Management.
What might life look like as an Engineering Intern?
Scottish Water’s Summer Internship scheme will give you a taste of what it feels like to work in one of the largest water companies in the world.
You can now apply now join our intern programme with opportunities available at our regional hubs in Inverness, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Commencing early June 2023, as an Engineering Intern you will support our Regional Hub teams on innovative projects to deliver an excellent service to our customers.
You will gain valuable experience of how we deliver capital investment and as part of your placement, you will focus on:
- Discussing needs with the internal customer
- Writing contract partner briefs
- Interfacing with commercial to prepare contracts
- Checking H&S documentation
- Undertaking client duties for the contract
- Checking and processing payments
- Managing completion and handover documentation
What does a successful candidate look like?
To be eligible to apply for this internship programme you will be a penultimate year student (for example in your third year of a four-year course, or in your fourth year but going on to study a master’s degree).
You would be looking for a career in Engineering, Construction, Construction Project Management or a related discipline and share our passion for delivering great customer service.
You need to be available for the 12-week duration of the programme and on course to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
