The role

Reporting to the Engineering & Site Services Manager & Lead Engineer, the Engineering Maintenance Apprentices will work on a full-time basis. During the first year, the Engineering Maintenance Apprentices will attend the Training Centre/college for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this it will be one day a week knowledge study, studying towards a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3 standard with the remaining 4 days based onsite. The Engineering Maintenance Apprentices will undertake an Advanced Level 3 apprenticeship programme in Engineering, including Key Functional Skills training (where necessary), to support the Engineering team in maintaining plant and equipment, customer service requirements and required OEE. They will undertake the required training on and off the job, to safely maintain and repair a variety of machines to include Injection Moulding machines, Plastic Extruders and fully Automated Assembly machines to maintain production volumes. This will involve training in the operation and process of Plastic Polmer machines.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are to:
On and off the job learning and training in and outside of the Company, to develop competence and become a Multi Skilled Engineer
Undertake the required training to maintain and repair a variety of machines including injection moulding and extruders and Company specific equipment and machinery.
To train in the operation and process of plastic polymer machines.
Operate in line with all Wavin H&S Standards whilst on site, adhering to safe working practices in accordance with current legislation.
Carryout day to day maintenance activities, maintaining machine availability
Carryout proactive work including PPM and improvement work
Carrying out complex fault diagnosis and repair activities on high technology engineered systems such as:

Maintaining mechanical equipment
Maintaining fluid & pneumatic power equipment
Maintaining electrical & electronic equipment
Maintaining process control equipment

To be successful in the role you will:
Hold GCSEs or equivalent in Maths & English Language grade C/4 or above.
Have previous work experience.
Be able to develop the required knowledge including IT skills through on and off the job learning and training/mentoring.
Possess good organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task. You will be self-motivated with the confidence to work unsupervised.
Have excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Be a good communicator with strong teamwork abilities and interpersonal skills.
