About this opportunity

Do you want to be part of a team, using the latest tech to modernise the way we use data to deliver value for our clients?

We're committed to a more data led approach in our client and colleague propositions, and we need leaders who can successfully leverage data for the benefit of clients and the Group.

Examples of our current projects include developing the data solutions needed for key reporting on ‘financed emissions’ - which is fundamental to helping Lloyds Banking Group achieve its net zero ambitions. We’re also working on developing Carbon Insights, helping our small and medium sized business clients to understand their own carbon impacts based on their transaction data, as well as the opportunities to reduce their emissions.

As an Engineering Lead, you'll be responsible for leading feature teams, helping to develop the technical designs of our data led solutions and the plans to deliver them. You’ll actively promote transformation methodology and maintain an inclusive environment.

Day to day, you’ll be:
  • leading teams to develop and deliver data products for clients and colleagues, using a wide range of internal and external data sources
  • driving forward the modernisation of our legacy data estate by building new data products on Google Cloud Platform
  • working with other business and engineering teams to shape delivery and leverage strategic capabilities and being built by others
  • mentoring and developing engineers, providing clear and constructive feedback, whilst creating opportunities for learning and growth
  • acting as an ambassador for the potential value of cloud hosted data solutions.
About Us
We’re on an exciting journey and there couldn’t be a better time to join us. The investments we’re making in our people, data, and technology are leading to innovative projects, fresh possibilities, and countless new ways to work, learn, and thrive.
Specifically, we’re looking for:
  • an experienced engineering lead with a recent focus on developing data and analytics solutions on Google Cloud Platform
  • technical know-how in data engineering techniques which cover both batch processing and streaming
  • strong awareness of advantages/disadvantages of public cloud and technical leadership for the transition to cloud
  • experience in the end-to-end delivery of data products using Agile methodologies and DevOps tooling
  • the ability to build strong relationships and demonstrate a passion for solving real-world problems with data and technology
  • leadership of mixed technical teams with good mentoring/coaching skills and a real joy for seeing people develop & succeed.
And any experience of this would be really useful:
  • traditional on-premise data warehouse solutions such as Teradata or SQL Server
  • developing self-serve solutions which maximise the value of data to downstream consumers
  • mobilising teams to deliver new initiatives and projects, ensuring the right mix of roles and responsibilities are in place.

And it’s why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. We’re disability confident. So if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • Up to 30 days holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.
