We are now seeking applications for our graduate programme to start from August 2023.

THE PRODUCTS
Our products and engineering expertise enable our customers vital processes, providing efficient and sustainable solutions. We are recognised as a global leader of hydrogen compression solutions which can support green hydrogen applications to reduce global carbon footprint.

You could be involved in designing innovative rotating equipment that impacts people’s everyday lives. From high speed titanium blowers for nuclear power, to high efficiency fans to provide ventilation for underground transport, or steam turbines for power generation or even digital solutions to optimise equipment performance.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The Howden Graduate Programme is a two year training scheme designed accelerate your learning with a variety of real work experiences across different business areas, giving you a great foundation to build on for a successful career within Howden.

The scheme is approved by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, IMechE, and gives you the knowledge and skills required to work towards Chartered status.

You will generally complete between 6 to 8 rotational placements developing your knowledge and skills in core areas, such as design, research, contract engineering, project management, manufacturing, and field services. As well as ‘on the job’ learning, you will have access to a variety of other technical and management training.
You will acquire new skills and get hands-on experience working on exciting projects that help deliver cutting edge technology to our global customers, and we have the best in the business waiting to mentor and support your training and development.

After the first two years, you can then focus your development specialising in your preferred area. We will continue to support your professional growth and are committed to helping you develop to your full potential in Howden.

Primarily, you will be based at our Headquarters in Renfrew (15 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre). Although, working for a global organisation there may be future opportunities for international placements.

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY
We are looking for enthusiastic graduates with Masters or Bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical with Aeronautical Engineering.

You will be driven, motivated and adaptable. An excellent communicator both verbally and written, with strong numerical and IT skills. You will thrive on solving problems, have strong interpersonal skills, and are able to collaborate well with others. You love a challenge and are comfortable taking on responsibility.
