At Arriva, our Engineers keep our buses moving and the communities we serve connected. Whether that’s getting children to school or commuters to work. As an Engineering Apprentice you’ll work alongside a close-knit team of experienced Electricians, Technicians and Engineering Managers who’ll mentor you along the way. Together you’ll keep our buses running at their very best.

This is a 4-year programme working towards an IMI Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician. This is a programme designed for people at every stage in life. It could be your first venture into work after finishing school, or the exciting career move you’ve been looking for. Whatever your motivation, we’re looking for those with an inquisitive mindset who love solving problems and don’t mind getting their hands dirty. As an apprentice with us you’ll earn £7.50 per hour in your first year, raising in your second year in line with National Minimum wage.

Together, we strive to make travelling by bus the best choice for everyone. With our doors open to all, you’ll have the chance to build a fulfilling career with us, one where you can explore your passions, aspirations and realise your full potential. As you progress, you'll have the opportunity to earn a competitive salary, and we'll be there to support you every step of the way.

Join us and be at the forefront of revolutionising bus travel. Make every journey greener and work on innovative electric and hydrogen vehicles. You'll be a vital part of something big – by connecting communities, promoting sustainable travel, and contributing to a better tomorrow. You'll also gain invaluable skills and knowledge that will stay with you for a lifetime.

To join us as an apprentice you will need to have or expect to achieve GCSEs at Grade C (or above) or Grade 4 (or above) in both English and Maths as well as pass a pre-employment medical.

Benefits:

  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Store and shopping discounts on the Arriva Village
  • Free travel on our bus networks
  • Access to Arriva's Employee Assistance Programme to support your health & wellbeing
  • For the second year of the apprenticeship, your salary will increase in line with National Minimum wage for your age range.

Come aboard and engineer your future.
