What you’ll be doing:
- Support the System Technical Leads managing the development of sonar design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality targets in accordance with project or business milestones. Comply with the contractual requirements and undertake work in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation.
- Support and engage in engineering meetings & system design reviews with multiple stakeholders to resolve engineering issues.
- Support the review of Supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately.
- Ensure Supplier design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools, and has endorsement from the appropriate level of authority.
- Engage with Combat Systems Engineering teams and provide technical support to Shipbuilder installation and/or integration activities.
- Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from Suppliers through to system acceptance by the Customer.
- Work with the sonar engineering team to improve own levels of domain knowledge and subject matter expertise.
Your skills and experiences:
- Degree level qualification in an engineering or closely related discipline, or an equivalent level of experience
- Knowledge of sonar systems in the defence, maritime or closely linked industry would be beneficial
- Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle with some experience of operating in the Design & Development and/or Manufacturing & Installation phases
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations
- Understand the need of and have awareness of Product Safety and SHE.

The UWS team:
As a Combat Systems Engineer you will be working as part of the Underwater Systems (UWS) Outboard Engineering Team across all phases of the engineering lifecycle on the management of design, build and integration of the latest Sonar Systems on UK submarine platforms.
