ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Powertrain Calibration Engineer you will collaborate with the Functional Manager – Powertrain Calibration to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100 strategy.
As an Engineer for Powertrain Calibration, the candidate will provide expert theoretical and practical capability in hybrid powertrain application. Implement and validate optimum calibration strategies in line with Brand and Product Line requirements. Coordinate supplier application activities in line with Product Line requirements. Awareness and understanding of latest developments in the relevant vehicle systems.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and verification of hybrid powertrain calibration which, when introduced into production, are safe, legal and otherwise fit for purpose following Bentley Powertrain Calibration Processes.
- Planning and management of validation activities including vehicle preparation and instrumentation for systems/components to demonstrate successful achievement of calibration activities.
- Timely application release for prototypes and production and for timely delivery of all product engineering activities to ensure timely vehicle launch to quality and cost.
- Planning and participation in hot & cold field trials in various locations around the world.
- Liaise with other Bentley & VW group departments and manage external suppliers
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will be a Powertrain / Calibration Engineer with experience in the automotive sector with multiple years’ experience of Powertrain application calibration of torque based architecture. You will also have a strong background in cross department or company collaboration, aimed at synchronised delivery of a multi stakeholder systems to achieve ultimate customer release.
An engineering degree or equivalent technical experience is required, German language skills are not essential but beneficial.
- System calibration, e.g. engines, motors, transmissions, steering, etc.
- Project Management / planning abilities with ability to lead complex problem solving investigations.
- Excellent at collaboration, working cross-functionally with strong communication and inter personal / influencing skills.
- Strong process discipline and self-motivation.
- Excellent IT skills (e.g. ETAS INCA, Microsoft packages, Matlab)
- Full UK driving license and ability to obtain proving ground licenses where appropriate
- Resistant to and ability to manage change
