IIHR Engineering Associate
Temporary Full-Time Position
IIHR – Hydroscience & Engineering (IIHR) (https://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/ (https://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/)) within the College of Engineering at The University of Iowa is currently seeking applicants for full-time temporary Engineering Support personnel to assist to assist with experimental data collection on physical hydraulic models. The full-time appointment will be up to a one-year term.
The successful candidate will work on reduced scale physical models of hydraulic structures such as dams, spillways, rivers, fish ladders, drop shafts, and deep tunnels. Duties will include operating physical models, data collection and processing, report writing, and other duties as assigned.
A valid Driver’s License, plus the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards (University of Iowa Operations Manual Part V, Chapter 19) is required. The ability to occasionally move construction and research materials weighing up to 75 pounds in support of the project is also required. Applicants must also have a solid work ethic, good communication skills, effective time management, and demonstrated knowledge of safety practices as they relate to power tools and small power equipment.
Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field is required. Pay will be commensurate with experience. This position is for up to a 1-year term.
