Fabric Engineer
Coleshill, Birmingham
Main Duties
In your new role as a Fabric Engineer you will be responsible for undertaking all building fabric activities, with repairs undertaken where necessary to achieve the highest level of service for the client, reporting any defects at the time of the service visit. Build relationships with the client, answering any queries and keeping them informed of site activities and developments. Complete all work-related documentation accurately and on timely manner, ensuing works managed correctly through CAFM system as required, correct keeping logs of inspections reports and remedial work.
The position will be based in Birmingham\Coleshill area but also support a site in Northampton\near Junction 16 M1 on an ad-hoc basis, you will be provided with a pool vehicle for travel.
Included in main duties include:
- To undertake routine PPM tasks in accordance to recognised standards
- To undertake reactive repairs as required, including fabric/plumbing tasks/cleaning plant & associated areas.
- To undertake AHU filter changes/ plant cleans.
- To undertake Escort duties of Sub-contractors where required
- To undertake basic paving\floor repairs – internal & external.
- To attend site meetings or training when required
- To co-operate with other MITIE disciplines for the provision of multi-discipline services where required
- Support portering and office moves as required
- Be available to carry out necessary works outside normal\shift hours with additional remuneration
- Role may require shift working.
- To be part of a callout rota.
- Support cleaning litter picking tasks as required.
- Ensure all documentation completed correctly for all tasks especially PPM and record reactive tasks on to CAFM sytem.
- To undertake tasks as instructed by the on-site Technical Manager.
- To undertake painting decorating tasks.
- To support simple FM tasks - eg basic water testing regimes and upkeep of the water log book – following adequate training.
- Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests.
What we are looking for
You'll need experience within a similar position within a maintenance environment. Capability to perform manual tasks, including manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces. Good verbal and written communication and ability to use computers.
Included with key attributes we are looking to fourfill the role include:
- Ideally served a recognised trade training scheme but not essential
- Ability to undertake all facets of maintenance and installation requirements as required within the scope of the contract
- Basic IT skills
- Previous relevant experience with working within the building services sector
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a pro-active approach
- Adaptable to changing requirements.
- Physically fit to cope with specific needs of role, eg: lifting, climbing ladders.
- Approachable and able to build positive relationships with clients, both internal and external
