Job description
Role Description – Graduate Engineer
Reducing emissions from the built environment is critical for the delivery of a net zero carbon future.
We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about the decarbonisation agenda and engineering project delivery and are looking to start a career within the built environment sector.
The job role will be focused on engineering design and delivery of mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) services. Unlike many consultancies, we advocate that an engineer working in the industry should have exposure to all areas of MEP design in order that they can develop a holistic approach.
Day to day activities of the job will involve:
· Engineering calculations for MEP systems
· Building performance, energy use and carbon emission modelling
· Developing system designs from the client brief and project requirements
· Technical drawing of MEP systems using 2D and 3D computer aided drawing packages
· Presenting and discussing proposals with design teams and clients
· Writing technical notes and reports
· Site inspections and surveys
We work collaboratively with a number of other professional organisations on our projects such as architects, structural engineers and building contractors. You will have extensive opportunities to learn about the wider construction industry and to develop experience throughout the whole life of a project, from initial feasibility up to project delivery and operation on site. Currently, the majority of our work takes place in Cambridge and the East of England, and frequently involves trips to meet clients and visit sites.
Ideal candidates would have:
· A strong foundation in mechanical, electrical or building physics engineering.
· Experience, or an interest in developing their use of CAD and Building Information Management (BIM) software packages such as Revit.
· A keen interest in the built environment and its current challenges with regards to the climate crisis.
If you’re excited about this role and think you have what it takes, we want to hear from you.
We encourage candidates from a variety of backgrounds to apply. We value diverse perspectives and the contribution each of our team makes to our culture.
What we offer
· Work on impactful, motivating, and interesting projects.
· Mentorship and support from an experienced team.
· Opportunities for personal and professional development.
· An annual professional institution subscription and ongoing support towards professional accreditation.
· 22 days holiday + bank holidays
