XEIAD are the largest provider of civil infrastructure inspections in the UK.

Specialising in difficult access our teams have extensive experience inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels, and shafts across industry sectors such as Rail, Highways, Marine, Utilities and Defence.
We are currently engaged in the delivery of numerous projects throughout the UK for and on behalf of many asset owners, managers and a large diversity of engineering consultancies including Network Rail, National Highways, Balfour Beatty, Kier and Atkins to name just a few.

Main Purpose:
Graduate Engineers will be required to take a leading role on a variety of structural inspections and testing projects and subsequently be responsible for producing inspection and testing reports to a high standard. Graduate Engineers will be responsible for ensuring the technical compliance of site works are completed and for ensuring the safe systems of work in place for each task are followed when on site.
This particular role requires a good knowledge/awareness of industry standards under the Design Manual for Road and Bridges (DMRB).
Projects will be primarily involving difficult access therefore operatives will be required to undertake industry standard training in a number of access disciplines to fulfill their role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and lead maintenance inspections and record information to best practice in accordance with the requirements of the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures, CS450 and other bespoke DMRB standards.
- Undertake site reconnaissance’s and liaise with statutory agencies, landowners and clients.
- Develop Desktop Studies of structures to provide specific methodologies for inspections including inventory and defect reviews, access requirements and constraints and general reviews of methodologies and procedures.
- Produce written technical reports summarising structural defects ensuring reports meet the desired standards for National Highways.
- Report inspections into different Asset Management Systems and contribute to the use of innovative technology in inspections.
- Undertake site works in a safe manner in-line with company procedures and the safe systems of work put in place for each task.
- Prepare RAMS documents relating to structures inspections. Ensure working practices adhere to the RAMS.
- Identify and submit close calls in line with company procedures.
- Consult with road space coordinators to ensure road space, traffic management and access arrangements are in place.
- Support the Senior Engineering team in the management of critical defects identified in inspections.
- Support the Senior Engineering team on the technical delivery of engineering projects, for example, those which involve post tensioned structural inspections and investigations.

What are we looking for?
Essential requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in civil or structures engineering.
- Greater than 3 years post graduate experience (desirable)
- Graduate Member of ICE, or other relevant professional institution
- UK Driving Licence
Desirable requirements
- Experience in inspection, testing and reporting
- Awareness of CDM
- Knowledge of risk management and mitigation
- Organisation/Industry Awareness
